স্রষ্টার প্রেমে মাতাল

তুমিতো হয়েছ মাতাল আর আমি অপ্রকৃতিস্থ,

Yor are drunks and i'm intoxicated. 

কেউইতো নেই আশেপাশে যে পথ দেখিয়ে আমাদের বাড়ি নিয়ে যেতে পারে। 

no one is around showing us the way home. 

বারবার আমি তোমায় বলেছিলাম, কিছুটা কম পান করতে, দু'-এক পেয়ালা কম।

again and again i told you.drink less.a cup or two.

আমিতো জানি, এই শহরে, কেউই নয় মিতপায়ী,

i know. in this city. no one is sober.

একজন হতে আরেকজন আরও মন্দ,

one is worse than the other.

একজন দিশেহারা আর আরেকজন বদ্ধ উন্মাদ। 

one is frenzied and the other gone mad.

এসো হে আমার বন্ধু, পদার্পণ করো,(স্রষ্টার প্রেমে ধ্বংশ হয়ে যাবার) এই পানশালায়,

come on my friend. step into the tavern of ruins.

নতুন আরেকটি বন্ধুর সান্নিধ্যে এসে স্বাদ নাও জীবনের অমৃত সঞ্জিবনীর।

taste the sweetness of life in the company of another friend. 

এখানে প্রতিটি কোণায় দেখবে, (স্রষ্টার ধ্যানে মগ্ন) কোন মাতাল, 

Here you will see. at every corner. someone intoxicated.

আর পরিবেশক অমৃতের ভান্ড হাতে, চক্কর দিতে ব্যাস্ত। 

and the Cup bearer makes her rounds.

আমি যখনই বাড়ি থেকে বেড়িয়ে ছিলাম(ঠিক তখনই) আমার কাছে এলো একজন মাতাল, 

i went out of my house. a drunkard came to me.

(স্রষ্টার প্রেমে মাতাল) যার আভাতে স্বর্গের একশতো বাড়ি হলো আলোকিত। 

someone whose glance uncovered a hundred houses in paradise.

দোলছেন আর গড়াচ্ছেন,তিনি যেনো একটি নোংগরহীন পালের নৌকো,

Rocking and rolling. he was a sail with no anchor. 

কিন্তু আসলে তিনি হলেন, উপকূলে থেকে যাওয়া সব বিচক্ষণ ব্যাক্তির ঈর্ষার পাত্র।

but he was the envy of all those soher ones remaining on the shore.

আপনি কোথা থেকে এসেছেন ",আমি প্রশ্ন করলাম তাঁকে।

Where are you from".I asked. 

তিনি উপহাসের ছলে হাসলেন আর বললেন, 

He smiled in mockery and said.

"এক অর্ধেক পূর্ব হতে, এক অর্ধেক পশ্চিম হতে, 

"One half from the east.one half from the west.

এক অর্ধেক তৈরী পানি আর মাটি দ্বারা, 

one half made of waterand earth.

এক অর্ধেক তৈরী হৃদয় আর আত্মা দ্বারা, 

one half made of heart and soul.

এক অর্ধেক আছে সমুদ্রের তীরে 

one half staying at the shores

আর এক অর্ধেক বাস করে (সমুদ্রের গভীরে)মুক্তোর ভেতর"। 

and one half nesting in a pearl".

আমি অনুনয় করলাম, "আমায় আপনি বন্ধু করে সাথে নেবেন, 

I begged. "Take me as your friend. 

আমিতো আপনার অতি নিকটের আত্মীয়"।

I am your next of kin".

তিনি বললেন, " আমিতো স্বজনদের চিনিনা;

He said. "I recognize no kin.

অপরিচিত জনের কাছে রেখে এসেছি আমার যতো বিষয়সম্পত্তি

among strangers. i left my belongings 

আর প্রবেশ করেছি(স্রষ্টার অমৃত সঞ্জীবনীর) এই পানশালায়।

and entered this tavern.

আমার কেবল আছে বুক ভর্তি অনেক শব্দ, 

i only have a chest full of words.

কিন্তু ওগুলোর একটিও আমি আজ আর উচ্চারণ করতে জানিনা"।

but can't utter a single one".
